How has the internet affected the transparency of campaign finance?

The internet has increased transparency, but not necessarily accuracy.

If you are employed by a local county or city or state government, are you legally allowed to donate time or money to a political campaign?

I live in Illinois if that affects the answer.

Where you live might affect the answer, but usually any citizen can campaign/donate to a candidate. They just can’t do it while representing the state, city or county government. Or do it during their working hours. Or use government facilities (meeting rooms, computers, etc) to support their chosen candidate. Military members are encouraged to get involved with politics, but it’s illegal for them to do it while in uniform.

I am volunteering for a local political campaign. I was wondering if there is anything, any ideas, as a volunteer, that I could bring in to the table. Maybe organize a mini-marathon with the candidate and supporters. Anything counts. Thank you!

Have a candidates Bar-B-Cue where each candidate can set up their own space and meet the public. Maybe during the BBQ each candidate could take the podium a few minutes to pitch their story and solicit interested voters to meet with her/him in their space. Advise them to make no promises to anyone – we know they are impossible to keep and only weak minded people believe them!

I can’t think of anything to write about for writing a political campaign speech. I’m trying to sound as "Bush" as possible about illegal immigration.

Sadly I don’t know anything about Obama or Bush’s ideas on illegal immigration. Please enlighten me with facts. Thanks.

The infamous “Daisy” TV ad that Johnson ran against Goldwater in the 1964 US presidential campaign. It was shown only once, but that was enough to inflict significant damage on Goldwater.

I’d say this was an enormous piece of irony, because it’s intent was to portray Goldwater as this unbalanced lunatic intent on dragging the US into war. In reality, LBJ was one of the most unbalanced and mentality skewed presidents we’ve ever had, and his lying about the Gulf of Tonkin DID drag us into the war. Along with McNamara, he continued to lie about the war, including fighting in Cambodia, US war causalties and our general progress.

History has shown that the man with true principles and ethics was Goldwater, not LBJ.
