or did he say both parties have gone to far? I think thats what he said on an interview on Fox news but CNN reported like this "Karl Rove says McCain went to far". How could any democrat think that CNN isn’t in the tank for the democrats after that example of yellow journalism.

What are some major differences in ways presidential campaign ads (commercials) have changed from like the 50s/70s compared to now?

Oh man – things used to be pretty gentlemanly in the Presidential races. Often a candidate would never mention his opponent’s name. Now a lot of ads use ugly, disgusting smears to sell their candidate. Doesn’t seem like it would work, but Americans are really stupid that way and tolerate that sort of abusive nastiness quite well.
