A professional will be able to tweak the responses so that the campaign is really optimised for your business. Adwords is expensive when it is done wrong!
Use Elance to find a professional. We did and were really pleased with the results!

Hello.
You have more than 2 options here.
If you really big company and have big budget Google will help you out by providing dedicated team, but you should be really big.
On yahoo PPC it’s http://sem.smallbusiness.yahoo.com/searchenginemarketing/
"If your budget is $1000+ per month, please call us at 1-866-747-7327, Mon-Fri, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. PT"
Now the most interesting part, You can create account on Google and if it performs good it might be exported and imported to yahoo and msn ppc accounts. Usually if your campaign is performing well on Google it will do well on yahoo too.
You also can hire Google qualified professional to do the work for you. Just make sure you are picking the good one who understand your goals and really interested in your success.
Hope that helps.

Save your money. Do it yourself. Do some reading on adwords to get familiar with it. I recommend the Free adwords strategy guide…

Then, start small. One campaign with one or two ad groups and just a few keywords. You’ll get the hang of it. When you are comfortable, you can add more campaigns, ad groups and keywords.

If i were you i would contact a few companies and ask for clients they have done it for and speak to the clients to get references. That’s the only way to be sure in my opinion!
Bear in mind that just because a company comes top of google for your search it doesn’t make them the best, they could have used naughty and illegal techniques to get there and may use the same on your site which could end up getting your site kicked off google for good! Arrgh!
Personally i used this company (they do direct marketing too so i figured they would have a great understanding of paper marketing as well as internet marketing) http://www.datahq.co.uk and they were fantastic. They were very knowledgeable in their area and were really honest about what may and may not work for me. They also gave me lots of advice and told me what they did and how they did it so that if i wanted to do it myself after they’d set it all up i could. At the end of the day their skills are directly identifiable by sales so there’s no hiding whether they’re good or not.
