Pretty much everything you’e heard about the recent Supreme Court decision from politicians and the news media is a lie. I try at least a little to set the record straight.

    That was ALWAYS …
That was ALWAYS unlimited. This ruling means that groups can advertise within 60 days of an election and use their own funds to do it (breaking a mandate effectively requiring them to hide who they are).

  2. PhysicsDude55 Says:

    Did this court …
Did this court decision not unlimit the amount of money corporations could spend on “electioneering”?

I think that’s kind of a big deal, and you didn’t really discuss it.

  3. theeyeisblind Says:

yeah i get that the …
yeah i get that the corps got to do that now, but what about the grass roots organizations? the adverts only say ” paid for by Freedom Works” whom is paid by corps

its part of the reason why i didn’t join the outrage bandwagon, they can STILL put all their money into these groups and be sneaky about it

but i don’t know any reason they would change tactics just cuz they CAN. the Family Research Council and Freedom Works can trick people into trusting them more easily than a corporation can

  4. shanedk Says:

    Well, they HAD to …
Well, they HAD to do it that way before this decision, because The Very Big Corporation Of America couldn’t just do it themselves. They had to form the other group to be able to do it. Now they can do it on their own, but they have to say, “Paid for by The Very Big Corporation Of America.”

  5. theeyeisblind Says:

    yeah i get that, i …
yeah i get that, i just wish that they were a lil more disclosing about WHO funded them. all they gotta do is say that the “concerned citizens of america” paid for this advert but it means nothing.

i just don’t like the dishonesty of hiding behind grass roots organizations to push big corporate agendas that may not in the planets interest

do you think that exxon mobile would be pushing this research without the legislation against carbon?

  6. shanedk Says:

    I don’t think …
I don’t think they’d be sinking $600 million into researching biofuels made with algae if they weren’t.

They place them in the words AND say them out loud. BY LAW.

  7. theeyeisblind Says:

    yeah now all we …
yeah now all we gotta hope is that exxon mobile represents my interests and the interests of the viability of life on this planet in general

liberals are scared of this because corporations already spend enough money on republicans as it is. thinkof freedom works, another corporate funded “grass roots” organization. now its easier to work against environmental legislation

BTW has you ever been able to read the disclaimers on the commmercials? they should be forced to make them more obvious

  8. evensgrey Says:

    No, it wasn’t, …
No, it wasn’t, since you didn’t make any qualifications like that AT ALL.
