you’re saying I can’t without jailbreak, but I can with it.
I just have to take an extra step than you.
And the warranty issue is minor since all I have to do is restore the original FW.
Many things that are good become better when they are modded, even Android phones.
I really don’t care for a physical keyboard and a virtual keyboard together in the same phone, seems a bit redundant.
So you say I can but I can easily prove that I can.
And just to clarify iPhone OS is Unix.

android phones got jailbroken as well. they’re able to run a lot more native linux stuff then iphone / ipod touch
we could write a real keyboard driver to, but why? we a have one built in.
we can do multitasking on android since the beginning. with ANY app.
well, that one depends on your needs.
you can not customize your homescreen without jailbreak
you cant do widgets without JB (warranty loss!)
you can’t support open dev, since apple doesn’t.

If you don’t mind the extra steps for the warranty work then more power to you. As for Apple catching on to why its users jailbreak the phone I don’t think its going to happen. Its been 3 years and plus why did they work so hard to make the 3gs supposedly “unbreakable”?

Well as for service providers it depends on location. I have Sprint and i, like you, have no problems with my service. I understand that the higher the MPs the more power it’ll require but how often do you take pics? Not that often. I’m forgetful and I’ll leave my camera behind (Nikon D90 fyi) but i don’t miss out on the chance to take a pic cause i have my phone (my current one has a 3 MP camera which has served me well). Nothing wrong with upgrading. To a point of course.

I’m not saying there’s something wrong with having a better image sensor on a phone but the practicality only goes so far. The higher the MP, the more processing power the phone needs then you start to lose battery life.
. I rarely find myself in a situation where I need to take a photo and I don’t have my DSLR on me.
I would like to believe that Apple will catch on to the reasons users Jailbreak their phones and make it a readily & acceptable option.

There’s a few reasons I have for not getting a phone that allows me to these things out of the box. Mainly, I have no problems with AT&T that everyone seems to complain about. I have excellent 3G service every spot I go to. I like the iPhone’s design, it’s very practical. I have no issues with restoring the original firmware for warranty work. It might be an extra step but it’s worth it to have the options that I want.

But you have to jailbreak the phone to do all that stuff you just said and apple doesn’t like people jailbreaking the iphone. Then you have to restore it to default so they don’t know that you jailbroke the phone if you need warranty work. Why not get a phone that lets you do all that stuff and not have to jailbreak the phone to do so. Whats wrong with having a better camera on the phone? What if you don’t have your DSLR with you?

iDon’t really need 5 megapixels (DSLR’s fill that need)
iCan customize
iDo run widgets
iCan support open dev since the jailbreak community is open.
iLaugh at taking photos in the dark.
iCould use an interchangeable battery though..
