It is perceived as a personal attack on their intelligence. They feel angry they were challenged by someone with a different opinion. Imagine the disbelief of the Obama supporter hearing for the first time Obama voted against a bill in his home state, to give medical care to a baby of a botched abortion and to allow partial birth abortions for whatever reasons the women and her Dr. choose. Their reaction would of course be defensive, it would be disbelief that Obama would have been the only senator to stand and give a speech that a woman's right to have a partial birth abortion is more important than the right of the child to live. At this point, in the abortion process, the child could have been born and given to an adoptive parent. As for the botched abortion, It would be utter disbelief that Obama would have voted against the bill that would refuse medical attention for that child. They wouldn't want to believe that Obama knew the truth that the children were left in a closet or in a bag alive for for several hours until they died. Then the dead child is disposed of the the trash. The Obama supporter would either justify the partial birth abortion, and agree it is morally correct and acceptable to end a child's life at the end of full term pregnancy while the head of the infant is still in the mothers womb. Then give Obama a pass. Well a few things just happened here. Anger, embarrassment, shame for being viewed negatively and feeling judged by millions and millions of Americans, the church, God, and for standing up for a man that allows a woman and her Dr. to take the life of an innocent child. They justify if the head is still in the body it's not murder. Because life starts at birth... the end of birth. On the other hand the Obama supporter will think about the information they just recieved and view it differently. They will not be able to justify supporting Obama because Obama doesn't believe a infant with her body outside the womb has a right to live. The Obama supporter wouldn't even consider killing a one day old child for what ever reason the woman and her Dr. choose. The Obama supporter would not see the difference if the babies head was still in the womb, while the rest of the body was dangling, moving, and kicking in the Drs. hands outside the womans body. The Obama supporter would be out raged. So why do Obama supporters consider truthful campain ads to be negative campaign ads? It's easy to look the other way. To ignore what Obama stands for. Obama supporters like and want him to be president for several different reasons. The Obama supporter isn't voting for abortion. It doesn't affect them. They will just look the other way. They will vote for Obama with blinders on. Not everyone is perfect. Look at John McCain.
