for IL residents, we have heard what the campaign ads & newscasters say, but I want to hear from the people ?

It is said that Obama promised in his run for the senate that he would cut taxes for the working class people, did he? Or did he not keep any of his campaign promises and fight for the real people to receive tax cuts and other benefits? My thing is that I want the people whose lives have already been affected by him to answer this question so I can have REAL facts.
I am from Illinois and we are fairly happy with Obama. Our other US senator is Dick Durbin. Obama is less liberal than Durbin, but Obama has shown he is a leader and has worked for our state. Illinois is the fifth largest state in the USA and Chicago is the third largest city in the USA. Illinois is a modern mix of rural and urban, and Chicago is the "city that works."
To the liar above me: Illinois property taxes went up because Illinois property values went up. Plus Illinois has to pay for all the earmarks like Bridges to Nowhere for tiny states like Alaska who get back twice what they send to Washington while Illinois gets back about 80 cents on the dollar. It sucks to be the worker bee that supports welfare states like Arizona and Alaska.
I am highly insulted by these people from tiny states like Alaska and Arizona who think they can question our state’s senator’s birth, ties to terrorists, experience, etc. How could someone get into the Senate here without all of this being vetted? Obama ran against some pretty nasty GOP candidates like Jack Ryan and Alan Keyes so why didn’t they bring this out then? It’s because it is all lying smears.

I’m not from Illinois, but I rec’d an answer from a woman who was on another question. She stated her property taxes went from $1,000 + to $4,000+ in his 4 years in office there. I’m sure the info is there to be checked. Use the dogpile search engine and look for Ill. prop. taxes during that time.
EDIT: realst 1, do not call me a liar. I do not know whether or not the woman told the truth, all I said was that she stated it. I also said to look it up to see. I was only passing on something to research. To call someone a liar, when it is plain I made no claims other than that somebody told me that, is very childish of you.

I live in Illinois and just voted for Obama (we have early voting).
You’re trying to unfairly compare a person’s effectiveness as just one State Senator vs. being the Leader of Free World.
The Illinois Legislature doesn’t set property taxes, by the way. Local governments do that.

I lived in illinois for 39 years.
Obama ran in 1996 under the promise of "lower property taxes and taxes in general and to oust corruption in chicago.
in 1996 I was paying $1900 a year for property tax.
in 1998 I was paying 2300 a year.
then he ran again, unopposed just like in 96, same promises.
in 2003, I sold my house and moved out of illinois. in 2003, my property taxes on my 80 thousand dollar home were $4900 a year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you could rent a 4 bedroom house for that much!
also, NOT ONE politician was "ousted" like he said, in 8 years there he never once helped anyone with taxes or tax cuts.
He was involved with Cilco (our energy company) and David Alexrod when they raised our electric bills 600% 8 years ago.
my light bill went from $130 a month to $650 a month!
When the governor said cilco was to freeze their increases, obama hired david alexrod to run commercials against the governor getting that passed.
thank god it had no effect and the gov was able to freeze ciclo. He started an investigation and found cilco was gouging us and gave us a rebate.
obama was against that rebate.
Obama (google this) was approached by Maytag. they said they needed help with taxes or they would have to close their doors.
They had just laid off 165 employees. Obama promised to enter on their behalf some legislation to lower their taxes until we were over this economic slump.
3 months later, Maytag asks obama if he has did this yet. obama said no, but was working on it. Maytag lays off another 100 employees. 4 months go by and Maytag asks obama if he ever did anything for them. obama says he has it ready and will turn it in. He 1 month later turns in a bill that would give a 1% tax cut to maytag ONLY if maytag brought back ALL its laidoff employees and gave each of them healthcare and pay for the time they were laid off.
Maytag closed their doors on sept 8th 2003.
this is how obama plans on helping americans, by forcing companies to do things they cant afford.
