Mccain attacks Obama, but gets confused about Iraq…AGAIN!

Posted on December 24th, 2009 by admin

John McCain said this today in Rochester, New Hampshire: “This is a clear choice that the American people have. I had the courage and the judgment to say I would rather lose a political campaign than lose a war. It seems to me that Obama would rather lose a war in order to win a political campaign.”

This is the ninth presidential campaign I’ve covered. I can’t remember a more scurrilous statement by a major party candidate. It smacks of desperation. It renews questions about whether McCain has the right temperament for the presidency. How sad.

Scurrility Update: Readers should note that I said that I can’t remember a more scurrilous statement by a major party candidate. Smart politicians leave the scurrilous stuff to their aides; in fact, a McCain spokesman expressed these words almost exactly on July 14. There is a reason why politicians who want to be President don’t say these sort of things: It isn’t presidential. A President exists in the straitjacket of literality. His words mean something. So John McCain has to literally believe that Barack Obama would “rather lose a war in order to win a political campaign.” I can’t imagine that he does. He popped off, out of frustration.

The reality is that neither Barack Obama nor Nouri al-Maliki nor most anybody else believes that the Iraq war can be “lost” at this point. The reality is that no matter who is elected President, we are looking at a residual U.S. force of 30-50,000 by 2011 (a year ahead of the previous schedule). The reality is that McCain should be proud that he helped salvage a disastrous situation by pushing the counterinsurgency plan. It’s something to run on. But, at this point, McCain must sense that it’s not a winning hand. Obama, the poker player, has drawn to an inside straight: the Iraqis favor his plan over McCain’s long-term bases. That must be galling. But it’s no excuse to pop off the way McCain did. It was, shockingly, unpresidential.

During an interview with Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), CBS Evening News host Katie Couric noted that Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) said recently that “there might have been improved security [in Iraq] even without the surge” and asked McCain, “What’s your response to that?”
After first calling Obama’s claim “a false depiction of what actually happened,” McCain proceeded to falsely claim that the surge “began the Anbar awakening”:

McCAIN: I don’t know how you respond to something that is such a false depiction of what actually happened. Colonel McFarland was contacted by one of the major Sunni sheiks. Because of the surge we were able to go out and protect that sheik and others. And it began the Anbar awakening. I mean, that’s just a matter of history.

But in a puzzling move, the CBS Evening News did not actually televise McCain’s false claim tonight. As MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann reported, “CBS curiously, to say the least, left it on the edit room floor. It aired Katie Couric’s question, but in response, it inserted part of McCain’s answer to another question instead.”

Can somebody tell me in a full paragraph "Ford new "Bold" marketing campaign targets who?

Posted on December 23rd, 2009 by admin

I am parialy deaf with an physical and mental disabiltiy. I am not attending any form of college. I just want some insight on marketing targets because I happen to read an article on it. I just want some understanding on what I have just read.
Fords new "Bold" Marketing Campaign Targets Who? What strategy being used by Ford to reach that market? What other demographic does Ford targets? How can I sum this up in two full paragraph?

"Bold Moves” is the Ford brand’s new marketing communications platform, providing a consistent message about Ford and its products…………It’s specifically supposed to target their customers who buy cars. Hopefully, Ford can attract teenagers, and Breast cancer survivors, also.

This line is showing new ways to communicate to their consumers, including original Ford-produced TV programming and on-line documentaries. It’s going to showcase Ford products, customers and employees, making bold moves in their everyday life.

Please help me come up with campaign slogans for President Chester Arthur?

Posted on December 23rd, 2009 by admin

In my history class we are going to be holding political campaigns for selected presidents. Our group received Chester Arthur. Please help us come up with good catchy campaign slogans for this guy.

So far we came up with:

Chester the Successor
Chester for Reform

But we don’t really feel that they are catchy…..We want to get people to vote for this guy in our fake election
he’s dead, but if he was running as president—-what would be a good slogan?

ok is he in your classroom or a dead president. (i dont know my presidents)

What happens to the money left over from a presidential campaign?

Posted on December 23rd, 2009 by admin

I’ve noticed a lot of money is being raised by the presidential candidates this year. Barack Obama, himself, raises close to $1M per day. So, I’m curious to know what is done with the extra money that was raised by a presidential candidate after the nomination is made? I know that a decent amount is used for advertising, paying the staff, etc. Do they pocket the left over money? Or is it allocated to some other sector of the government?

They pile it away for anything else they might need it for. Hillary already used 10 million left over from her senate campaign on her presidential campaign.

What percent of campaign contributions come from outside the districts of congressional and senate candidates?

Posted on December 23rd, 2009 by admin

I recently heard a radio program that included some data which indicated that most congressional and senatorial candidates received much more money for their campaigns from sources outside the districts/states they represent than from within. I would like to have that data and check its source. I believe this is an important issue that needs to be publicized since it appears to be a gross disenfranchisement of Joe Citizen.

There is a link below. the study referenced show 79% of contributions to us house members came from outside their districts. Read the article is is quite informative.

Are you buying the advertising campaign to kill real healthcare reform?

Posted on December 23rd, 2009 by admin

Thumbs up for everybody who understand what the Repugs are up to with their bogus polls and lies.

its been a long time since the majority of the republicans have defended the constitution…isn’t that what the dems wanted during the bush years? I don’t see the problem…just wish SOMEBODY could introduce a bill that makes lobbying illegal. Big Pharma and the Insurance companies write the legislation…there will be no health care reform while this is going on. The problem is in DC, and WE need to demand it gets fixed. We either follow the rule of law (the constitution), or scrap it…

Is the hardest thing about this election campaign trying to keep track of the flip flopping?

Posted on December 23rd, 2009 by admin

Seriously, Obama is against the war, Obama is for the war
McCain wont raise taxes, McCain might raise taxes
Obama supports Rev Wright, Obama cuts Wright loose
McCain says tire pressure doesnt affect mileage, now he says it does…
Is this the choice between Abbot and Costello?
He was never for the war but hes not giving any real plan for getting out, and hes going to increase the war in Afganistan so hes no dove.

I’m having issues with it and anybody who doesn’t think they’re flipfloping needs to check their head a bit…
I don’t care anymore. I get thumbed up or down for my opinion, so I might as well be brutally honest. I’d rather not vote for either. Just stick to independant or something, but these are Our only Hope??? I’m scared.
One guy says CHANGE like getting anybody but bush isn’t? Plus wants americans to shell out THEIR hard earned money for world poverty???
and Mccain says "ooh look at me, I was a POW so you just HAVE To pity and vote for me" in his little whimpy voice…. I’m not a four year old, talk to me right for crying out loud.

Another episode of voting for the lesser of two evils…or liars -_-
