Dirt files: Ukraine’s scandal-hit election campaign

Posted on February 6th, 2010 by admin

Ukraine’s opposition party has managed to get changes to the country’s election law approved by Parliament — ahead of Sunday’s second-round run-off in the presidential race. The original law stated that Central Election Committee meetings and the vote itself would only be considered valid if more than two thirds of commission members were present. The Party of Regions, headed by Presidential candidate Viktor Yanukovich, pushed for the quorum system to be revoked. He claimed his rival Prime Minister Yulia Timoshenko may try to withdraw members of her party from the committee – jeopardizing the poll.

Is the new McDonald’s marketing campaign a conspiracy to wipe out African Americans?

Posted on February 5th, 2010 by admin

I bet they’re trying to wipe us out! Isn’t it obvious? All of a sudden they start trying to appeal to the black community with commercial featuring all blacks and even a website called 365black.com. They are trying to wipe us out by using fast food to lure us in so we can all develop heart disease and eventually keel over! They now African Americans have a high rate of heart problems! Why are they trying to sell us there greasy fattening food? It’s conspiracy, I tell you! They are trying to get rid of us!

Now they’ve definitely been bad this year no presents for them

Should the Democrats that are up for re-election try the Dominos pizza method of campaign ads?

Posted on February 5th, 2010 by admin

First they could admit how much they suck, how corrupt they are, and how out of touch they are with the American voter. Then they could show some video of American voters saying how corrupt they are, how much they suck, and how out of touch they are. Then the democrats could state that they are new and improved even though everyone knows deep down that its not true.

I don’t believe that’s necessary it. They know what the American people want. That’s why Obama offered what so many wanted to hear during the elections. How easy is that? The problem is getting someone who will stand by their word. If these elections should be proving anything to us, it should be proving "just because" one goes to college doesn’t prove there are the person for the job. I would rather vote for someone with only a high school diploma and maybe a little college that will eagerly up hold the Constitution than vote for some guy like Obama that has a 7 year degree (That’s what it takes to get a law degree) that only intends to treat the Constitution like his door mat.

What are some good high school campaign slogans?

Posted on February 5th, 2010 by admin

School sucks; your president shouldn’t.

whats that video generator that puts your name in a presidential campaign video?

Posted on February 5th, 2010 by admin

You like type in your name and it makes a news story on how a new candidate is running for us president.

It was popular during the 2008 us presidential election on peoples myspace pages.

perhaps it’s this?

"Obama’s Loss Traced
To Non-Voter"

Is it public information what the Presidential candidates spend the campaign contributions on each month?

Posted on February 5th, 2010 by admin

They raise over 60 mil/month – where can the public look up how they spend it? I remember Hillary had 2 people on her staff with a salary of over $200,000/month since then my curiosity is sparked.

Sort of – expenditures have to be accounted for and reported to the FEC. One could theoretically find out details through a FOIA request. Certainly the media has managed to ferret out such details, so there must be a way to do it.

Can campaigns read instant messages and emails if you discuss the candidate?

Posted on February 5th, 2010 by admin

I know that there is a program or whatever that allows campaigns to know of people using a search engine to find info about their candidate, but does this extend to IMs and emails? I don’t know what this program (or whatever) is called either, anyone know that too?

There are no programs that can just search all the email and IM streams occurring on the internet. Search engines and websites allow that because you actively visit those sites, so they can monitor you. IM could do that if they put monitoring software on the IM server, but it’s doubtful that any has been installed.

Email is a "fire and forget" kind of thing. The email hops from mail server to mail server until it reaches its destination. There could be monitoring done at any of those mail servers, but there are thousands if not millions of those. There is no guarantee what path your email will take. Thus no easy way to monitor everything in email.

If someone wants to monitor your email, they need to be sure that they put their monitor on the first hop from you in order to ensure being able to collect.
